To survive in the new fee-for-outcomes healthcare model, you need resources to deliver evidence-based “best practices”.
Attending advanced orthopedic weekend classes provides you with highly practical skills to gain confidence, improve results, and prepare for the future of outcomes-based reimbursement. Plus, the fifty “live hours” fulfill the requirement toward an advanced Diplomate in Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine – opening even more opportunities like the ability to participate in Federally Qualified Health Centers.
You will learn current “best practices” from some of the professions most informed and respected speakers.:
"This was a fantastic presentation and I have applied the materials this week with improvements in patient care immediately"
Presentations

WHIPLASH ASSOCIATED DISORDERS: THE PATHWAY FROM ACUTE TO CHRONIC PAIN
Diagnosis is the key to successful treatment and prognosis. This practical ten-hour presentation will enable the learner to perform an efficient assessment to better identify patients destined to become chronic pain patients following whiplash. The clinician will be able to organize a clinical thought process while performing a post-traumatic neuromusculoskeletal evaluation in order to differentiate acute pain, chronic pain, and chronic pain illness patients.
SPEAKER: JAMES LEHMAN DC, FACO
Dr. James J. Lehman is a board-certified, chiropractic orthopedist, tenured, Associate Professor of Clinical Sciences, and Director of the only 3-year, full-time neuromusculoskeletal medicine residency program leading to board certification as a chiropractic orthopedist. He has taught post-graduate chiropractic orthopedics since 1998. Dr. Lehman has been recognized as Academician of the Year by the American Chiropractic Association and Professor of the Year by the University of Bridgeport College of Chiropractic.

ADVANCED ORTHOPEDIC AND NEUROLOGICAL EXAMINATION OF PATIENTS WITH PAIN
Dr. Miller’s program provides a comprehensive review of common as well as advanced orthopedic and neurological testing methods. Participants walk away from the program with efficient methods for obtaining more clinical information in a shorter period of time. Learned skills are applicable to practice the next day.
SPEAKER: JEFFREY MILLER DC, FACO
Dr. Miller spent 16 years in private practice before serving as assistant professor at Palmer College of Chiropractic Florida; chairman of the Department of Clinical Sciences at Cleveland Chiropractic College in Overland Park, Kansas; and associate director of education and research for Foot Levelers, Inc., in Roanoke, Virginia. Dr. Miller has diplomate and fellowship status in chiropractic orthopedics, holds three strength-training certifications and is certified in chiropractic sports practice, and utilization and peer review. An author of eight books and nearly 200 papers and articles, Dr. Miller has provided postgraduate educational programs since 1993 at numerous chiropractic events.

MASTERING THE MANAGEMENT OF SHOULDER AND UPPER EXTREMITY PROBLEMS
Rotator cuff injuries alone account for 4.5 million physician once visits per year. Management of this problem can range from frustrating to rewarding depending on the depth of your training. Dr. Brandon Steele’s class is a practical workshop outlining everything participants need to know about success-fully treating shoulder and elbow problems. This class will review the current “best practices” for evaluation, treatment and home rehab. You’ll leave this class with greater understanding and confidence about how to manage the most common problems that affect the shoulder and upper extremity.
SPEAKER: BRANDON STEELE DC, FACO
Dr. Steele is currently in private practice at Premier Rehab in the greater St. Louis area. He began his career with a post-graduate residency at The Central Institute for Human Performance. During this unique opportunity, he was able to create and implement rehabilitation programs for members of the St. Louis Cardinals, Blues, and Rams. Dr. Steele currently lectures extensively on clinical excellence and evidence-based treatment of musculoskeletal disorders. He serves on the executive board of the Illinois Chiropractic Society. He is a Diplomate and Fellow of the Academy of Chiropractic Orthopedists (FACO).

EVIDENCE-BASED BEST PRACTICES FOR LBP
Dr. Bertelsman’s practical presentation begins with a discussion of the real-world “best practice” evaluation and management of common lumbar structural pathology. The class will progress to review five commonly overlooked “functional” problems that delay NMS recovery. In one way or another, these functional diagnoses contribute to many, if not all, of the lumbar structural diagnoses. The presentation concludes by reviewing a classification system for low back pain to direct treatment and improve clinical outcomes.
SPEAKER: TIM BERTELSMAN DC, CCSP, FACO

He has served in various leadership positions within the Illinois Chiropractic Society and currently serves as the President of the Executive Board.

DIFFERENTIAL DIAGNOSIS OF NEUROMUSCULOSKELETAL CONDITIONS
Dr. Demetrious will provide an advanced overview of the differential diagnosis of various common neuromuscular conditions. A careful review of current evidence-based practices and appropriateness criteria will be combined with clinically intuitive rationales. Emphasis will be placed upon risk management and improving clinical outcomes in an active learning environment.
